Hogans Creek Biodiversity Festival
Explore the Amazing Nature in Jacksonville's Parks at the Hogans Creek Biodiversity Festival

Join the fun for a day of free family activities, games, demonstrations and more to celebrate the National Park Service Centennial and the amazing biodiversity of our local parks.

A BioBlitz led by scientists, teachers and volunteer observers, will instruct participants how to identify plants, animals, birds and fish and how to preserve and protect them. Youth will receive a commemorative My BioBlitz Observation Book and can earn prizes and be sworn in as Jax Junior Rangers for identifying various species and participating in other activities during the event.

After identifying live critters during the BioBlitz, participants can catch virtual ones too as teens from the Groundwork Jacksonville Green Team drop Pokemon Go lures throughout Klutho Park noon – 2:00 p.m.

Dozens of community partners will offer activities that teach young people about personal and environmental health while encouraging families to get outside, explore nature and enjoy all of the beautiful city, state and national parks in the Jacksonville area. Activities include:

  • Appearances by Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl
  • Journey to ONE Mayorthon
  • Hogans Creek canoe clean up and park clean up
  • Yoga in the park
  • Archery instruction
  • Disc golf instruction
  • Environmental awareness
  • Healthy eating activities
  • Relay and scavenger hunt
  • Casting (fishing) clinic
  • Health screenings
  • Bounce house
  • Arts and crafts
  • Food trucks

Free parking is available at various surface lots surrounding the park. For information about volunteering and to sign up go to http://signup.com/go/7MCkRA.
