HOBNOB, a full-service restaurant located at Unity Plaza, has launched a new cocktail program that will provide financial support to local nonprofit organizations. The program, called “Generous Pours,” debuted its first drink called Celebration, available for $7.

HOBNOB will donate $1 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida for each Celebration drink sold through December 31. In 2017, the restaurant will introduce a new cocktail and benefiting organization every two months.

“HOBNOB’s whole philosophy centers around local intentions. This is true for the menu, as well as our involvement in the Jacksonville community. The Generous Pours program encompasses both,” said Ellen Cottrill, co-owner of HOBNOB. “We look forward to bringing awareness and financial support to several of our nonprofit partners in the community.”

Celebration is a sparkling wine drink, made with brown sugar cubes, passionfruit syrup, bitters and red sorrel. The red sorrel was grown in hydroponic towers at Unity Plaza, which were installed and maintained by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida through a pilot partnership with Water Me Green. More than 400 plants, including basil, various lettuces and herbs, were planted in September.

In addition to using the red sorrel for Celebration, HOBNOB is also using fresh herbs from the grow towers in its kitchen. Executive Chef Roger Regulacion will use red sorrel for his piquillo pepper gazpacho, while red shiso will garnish a new blackened tuna appetizer.

“Our partnership with HOBNOB and Water Me Green has been tremendous for the children in our Clubs,” said Paul Martinez, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. “The kids are learning about agriculture, entrepreneurship and the value of hard work. We are grateful for HOBNOB’s generous support, both in purchasing fresh herbs and produce from our grow towers and for selecting us as the first beneficiary of the Generous Pours program.”
