Bog Brewing Company
Bog Brewing Company, a thirst-quenching find for beer lovers in West Augustine.

There's a new craft brewery in town and even locals might not yet be familiar with its name. Located at 218 W. King Street in St. Augustine, Bog Brewing Company is one of the latest editions to the Historic West King Street District, and a welcomed addition to the eclectic mix of eateries, shops and studios springing up in close proximity to downtown, with old-world charm, but lacking big crowds. The brewery building itself is an old pharmacy and soda shop, turned pawn shop, and now tap room, serving freshly brewed pints, growlers to-go and wine in an inviting family friendly environment.

Since opening in March 2016, Bog Brewing Company has been steadily pumping out specialty craft brews, recently expanding their tap list to include 10 draft beers. Like all things St. Augustine, brewers Steven Mendoza and John France are making beer that blends traditional techniques with something a bit eclectic. The tap list includes what you would expect from any brewery—IPAs, porters and ales, but it’s their small batch creations that will keep you coming back. With one-offs like the light-bodied (but chest-beating) Smoked Datil Cream Ale to the full-bodied Oatmeal Coffee Stout made with local coffee, Bog has a beer for every palate. Don’t drink beer? Bog has you covered with a selection of unique whites, New World reds and even a sparkling rosé.

As Bog continues to make its debut on the craft beer scene locally in our region, on Thursday, May 19 at 8 p.m. they will join craft beer makers across the nation as beer enthusiasts raise their pints for a nationwide toast in honor of American Craft Beer Week. To celebrate, Bog is releasing a Session IPA aged on peaches and mangos, a limited release small-batch ale. It's anticipated that the celebratory IPA will sell out fast, so get there quick if you'd like in on the festivities.
